The Committee for the Apostolate of Inter-Religious Dialogue of the Archdiocesan Board of Education organized an annual Inter-Religious Meeting at Old Goa on Thursday, November 28th 2024 on the theme ‘Journeying Together, Strengthening Unity, Radiating Hope’. Two D. El. Ed students namely Jessilia Rochele Cardozo (S.Y. D. El. Ed) and Steffie Pereira (F.Y. D. El. Ed) accompanied by the teacher educator, Ms. Rosebel Fernandes attended the program. The program began at 9:45 am with a prayer dance by the Novice sisters of Our Lady of Angel, Old Goa and was followed by the wiping of the terrarium. Three guest speakers namely Swamini Gopikananda Saraswati, Maulana M. F. Abbasi and Rev. Dr. Hilario Fernandes sfx spoke about religious and communal harmony. They emphasized on the importance of being active learners and practically applying the teachings of various religions in our daily life. The program also included brilliant performances like an action song-cum-dance by students of St. Xavier’s Academy, Old Goa, an act by students of St. Xave High School, Moira and a mime by the parish youth group of Nuvem. A prayer was said by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao for the well being of all those gathered, after which Mr. Valadares said the pledge. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Blanche Mascarehas.
The students arrived at the institute at 12:45 pm, after the program concluded at 11:45 am. The students expressed their sincere appreciation for the inter-religious meeting, highlighting the valuable insights gained and the opportunity to engage with individuals from various religious backgrounds and the enriching discussions it sparked.
