Practice Teach was a 4-week training period. It was from 7 th of August 2023 to 1st of September 2023. First years along with the Second years were divided into groups and were allotted in different schools. This practice teach was an integral part of this academic journey. During the four weeks spent at the school, Teacher trainees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the field of education and gain valuable insights into the teaching profession.
First years and second years both had to deliver eight lessons in total. For the first year D.El.Ed., it was from Std I to IV. Two lessons in each subject of English, Mathematics, Konkani and EVS and for the second year D.El.Ed. from Std V to VIII. Two lessons in Hindi, Two lessons in History, One lesson each in Science, Yoga, Art and Work Education. A faculty of St. Joseph Vaz Institute of Education, Cortalim was allotted in every school to observe the lessons of the teacher trainees.
The main objective of this practice teach session was to gain practical teaching experience, to understand the dynamic of classroom management and student engagement and also to develop effective lesson plans and teaching learning materials.
The experience from this practice teach was rewarding as well as challenging. It helped the teacher trainees to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter and the learner’s needs of the students according to their age. The feedback or comments from the observers helped the teacher trainees to improve upon their performance.
Overall, this practice teach experience was a transformative and enriching journey. It strengthened communication as well as the interpersonal skills that deepened the passion for teaching.
