St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim in collaboration with Don Bosco College, Panaji and Nirmala Institute of Education, Althiho Organised a Breast Cancer Screening Program for the people of Cortalim and nearby villages on 11th November 2022 at the premises of St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim. Department of Physical Education and Sports of St Joseph Vaz institute of Education associated with St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim in organizing the same.  The screening program was organized as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between St Joseph Vaz College and Don Bosco College. The screening was conducted by Dr Dandelie Rodrigues and Miss Stefny Cardozo of YouWeCan NGO. The objective of organizing the program was to give access to the people of the villages to avail of the screening facilities provided as it is difficult for people in rural areas to have access to such screening programs and have the diagnosis at an early stage.

There were 101 participants who participated in the screening program which started at 9 a.m and concluded at 3 p.m. The participants were also informed about the risk factors associated with breast cancer, importance of early diagnosis, symptoms of breast cancer and facts and myths about breast cancer. Happy and thankful expressions were witnessed by the institute as the participants walked out of the screening room. The program was smoothl;y conducted and appreciated by the crowd due to the cooperation and understanding between the staff of St Joseph Vaz College and Don Bosco College.
